A Doppler ultrasound is a noninvasive test that can be used to estimate the blood flow through your blood vessels by bouncing high-frequency sound waves (ultrasound) off circulating red blood cells.
Color doppler ultrasound is a diagnostic and non-invasive procedure performed by a radiologist at the request of the treating physician. Performing this test requires the high skill of a radiologist. Color Doppler ultrasound shows the movement and direction of blood flow in the arteries and veins, as a result of which the following are measured.
1- Vascular condition in terms of anatomy
2- Existence of vascular wall stiffness and possibly obstructive plaques
3- The amount of blood flow in the arteries
This information can be useful for the treating physician in choosing and directing the treatment process.
